Description
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 50% social audience/community building strategy
- Serve as thought partner to Head of Marketing on setting conversational topics for our brand on social media, and build strategy around how that can build our audience’s sense of connection and identification as an Earthling
- Grow and strengthen our community on Instagram and TikTok, tracking and staying accountable to growing metrics such as follower count, views, click throughs to website, comments, etc.
- Create and plan out monthly content calendars, including themes, product features, content around product launches, infographics, etc.
- Regularly ideate and plan out experiments to run on our social media accounts to increase follower engagement and community building
- Stay on top of trending sounds, trending content types, memes, graphics, and act on them quickly; bring ideas to the table for our content creators and graphic designer
- Research and keep up with competitors on social media, providing Head of Marketing with monthly report on competitive landscape
- Keep social media content accountable to diversity and inclusivity guidelines
- Stay regularly informed on news and scientific studies about environmental science and climate; strategically integrate with content as appropriate
- 50% day-to-day operations of social media channels
- Primary channels will be Instagram (Feed, Stories, Reels) and TikTok. Write captions, research hashtags, schedule posts, etc.
- Manage secondary social media channels as well (Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter)
- Actively execute experiments using different features or platform-specific trends to figure out what drives audience engagement
- Work with our contract content creators: help them ideate engaging content weekly on TikToks/Reels to make; provide constructive feedback and edits on their content drafts; ensure final files are received and well organized for posting
- Work with cross-functional partners (both within marketing team and outside) to execute campaigns; e.g. giveaways/partnerships, product launches, sales and promotions, etc.
- Create story slides and simple graphics as needed for sales/promotions and our ongoing content series
- Create memes
- Answer DMs and respond to comments on Instagram and TikTok in a professional, on brand manner
- Measure and evaluate the performance on content produced and iterate upon findings; What worked? What didn’t? What’s the plan for moving forward?
- Must be willing to create content yourself as well our social platforms
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or Journalism, or equivalent related experience, but no less than 3 in a similar social media role for D2C ecommerce companies, preferably lifestyle or beauty brand
- Strategic understanding of and ability to create content, post, and manage different social media channels. Heavy focus on Instagram (Feed, Stories, Reels) and TikTok, and fluency in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms
- Knowledge of what makes successful, engaging, and viral content
- Experience creating engaging content based on a brand’s audience and their needs
- A creative spirit
- Demonstrated experience with audience expansion, representation of diversity, and engaging content on organic social media
- Demonstrated ability and sound judgement for handling potentially sensitive social media situations
- Experience with, or willingness to learn, community management skills (handling customer inquiries via DMs and comments while being professional and on brand)
- Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, metrics and analytics tools such as Google Analytics and SEO
- Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects with the ability to meet deadlines
- Highly self-motivated and flexible with an entrepreneurial spirit
- A “no task is too small or too large” type-of-attitude
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to execute upon strategic plans, transfer knowledge to other team members, and provide feedback effectively and consistently
- Interest in and knowledge of sustainability and the zero waste movement
- Must be willing to hop onto our social media accounts for a few minutes on evenings and weekends to post content that can’t be scheduled ahead of time (e.g. Reels and TikToks). We will work with you to create a schedule so that you can get a break from this periodically by having other teammates help out, but this role does involve being the primary person responsible for this task.
